Joe is happily married to Phyllis Lewis Dozier. They have four children: Robin Otten, 56; Kathy Silverberg, 52; Mary O’Brien, 50; and Susan Parker, 47.
Joe is retired from Shell Oil Company, where he worked for his entire 38-year career. During that time he held several positions, including geological engineer, production superintendent, director and manager of safety and environmental conservation, and senior staff engineer of business coordination. Brother Dozier was also in the Army Air Corps from 1943-1946, where he served as a pilot, flight instructor, first lieutenant and B-29 flight engineer.
He graduated with distinction from the University, receiving his bachelor’s of science degree in mining engineering in May 1948. Joe was recognized by his peers for the glorious accomplishments in his career, and was a member of the American Petroleum Institute and the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
He is a member of the Stockdale Country Club Board of Directors in Bakersfield, California and a sponsored representative of the United Way of Kern County, where he was named United Way Volunteer of the Year in 1997. Joe is a member of the Southern California Golf Association Rules and Competitions Committee as well as serving as senior warden at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Bakersfield.
